1.1268(W-Nr) - In general terms 1.1268 is a PM steel, originally developed in close cooperation by Klein Metals and Carpenter, patent pending. According to its official documentation 1.1268 is a lead free machining steel of the latest generation for automatic Swiss lathes. While that part doesn't exactly describe the knives, still 1.1268 has decent wear resistance and toughness, being very similar with well known AISI 1095 steel. I figure 1.1268 should benefit from PM process used in its production resulting in more uniform, smaller grain, which is always a plus for any knife steel. Currently, I have no confirmed use of 1.1268 in any knife. Like AISI 1095 steel, 1.1268 should be able to reach 64-66HRC and will do well with a thin, polished edge. For the record, there is a version of the 1.1268 with Lead(Pb) added to it, which is making machining easier, but undesirable for knife blades.
