1095 - Simple yet very efficient blade steel. Very popular with knifemakers. Sort of de-facto default carbon steel. Rusts easy though. Mostly you'll encounter it in 58-60HRC range. Several makers take it all thee way up to 64-65HRC. Sandvik makes very pure equivalent of this steel under Sandvik 20C Shock Absorber name.
