T72307(UNS) - Water hardening tool steel from W series. Easy to work with, inexpensive, and offers quite good performance. Used by custom makers. It could fall under W1 specification. Has a bit more Chrome, and Carbon content does fall under W1's very generous specs. Overall, it's a much more strict spec that W1, and offers good cutting performance for light/medium use knives, and can also be heat treated to work in large knives, in other words, underhardened. Will do better with high polished thin edges, not enough carbide content to be a good performer when abrasive wear resistance is desired.
