MBS-30(Daido) - MBS-30 is very similar to MBS-26 steel, but it has more Carbon, more Molybdenum and unlike MBS-26 it also has Vanadium, albeit just a trace amount. MBS-26 is made by Daido exclusively for Masahiro, and I have no confirmation that the same is true for MBS-30, however, no reason to think otherwise either. Interestingly, all sources specify 1.12% Carbon, which is perhaps something averaged, in real life achieving that sort precision on mass produced alloy would not really be possible. Anyway, it's listed by numerous sources, but as far as I know it was/is used in Japanese kitchen knives, and fixed blades, do not know of any western knives made out of MBS-30. Can get slightly harder than MBS-26 due to higher Carbon content and it also benefits form Vanadium and Molybdenum, improving its wear resistance. Decent knife blade alloy, less corrosion resistant than MBS-26 due to two factors: more Carbon and less Chromium. Still, it is plenty stain resistant. Better off with high polished edge, but if you like coarse edges, it'll do fine too.
