K490(Bohler-Uddeholm) - Bohler's proprietary, cold work tool steel. Made using their 3rd gen PM process. Also contains unspecified amount of Niobium(Nb) which is forming fine, very hard carbides. Obviously welcome addition to any knife steel. As per Bohler-Uddeholm its toughness is more than doubled compared to AISI M4 steel, while retaining similar wear resistance.
