1.4108(W-Nr) - Stainless steel, with medium Carbon content, quite stain resistant. Main highlight being 0.30%-0.50% Nitrogen in it. Overall, quite decent performance for a western kitchen knife, but some of the knives I've seen using this steel were priced way too high. IMHO the steel isn't that good of a performer to justify 1000$ or higher price. Apparently this alloy is used by NASA as a replacement for AISI 52100 steel in ball bearings. Max working hardness in 60-61HRC range. Can be forged.
Manufacturing Technology - Ingot
