Crucible CPM S60V steel had aliases listed as equivalent alloys, fixed that. Fixed group status for few other alloys. Nothign much, data quality works in short.

While scouring the search logs, found interesting pattern, someone or some people were submitting very large number of alloy names to the graph query engine. Dunno if it was to cause overflow bug, or whatever, added a limit for 12 names, which is the max a chart can handle properly.

Nice little knife, which I've had since February 2012. Used it quite a bit and I ma quite happy with the results, very high performance cutter. Major highlight being Bohler-Uddeholm Vanadis 10 steel at 65HRC. Very high alloy steel, but what matter is that Vanadis 10 performs at very high levels too. Very good abrasive resistance, and toughness is quite good for 65HRC steel, no chipping in my use and rests. For detailed review click the link in the title.

Got the tablet and docking pad for it. PQ is superb, but even though I prefer keyboard for typing, docking keyboard is still weird on the tablet. Too small compared to 17 or even inch laptops and not a tablet either... Dunnno. Anyway, all is cool, except the fact that I can't charge the damn thing from a PC. Needs to be plugged in to AC outlet. Like I said, now I have no excuse not to write tablet version of the Android Knife Steel App.

Added new paragraph related to sharpening and maintenance of the knife after the edge hits the scalloping. In the first revision I said it would be pretty much useless and not really sharpenable. Later, I've got emails stating that it's still sharpenbale, albeit problematic and the knife would still be usable. So, I've decided to expand on that section. I didn't say it was impossible, but the edge after hitting scalloping will be more fragile and sharpening becomes much more difficult. I think it's not worth it and that's all to it. For the details, read on the review linked above.

Well, basically the subj. As per multiple user requests, I've added support to run the app from SD card. Unfortunately, due to missing encryption on the SD card in native Android I had to leave data files on the device, which means about 1mb space is still required on the device. Otherwise, I'd have to drop support for older Android versions, below 2.1, and given the fact that several hundred users are still on those, can't do that.

For whatever reason, decided that I need a new android tablet, after all that one has full 1080p resolution. And that will be a good excuse to write knife steel chart for Android tablets. Last time I bought Galaxy tab, but never got motivated enough to write tablet version of the app. I suppose full HD tablet should do the trick ;)

Simplified table structure somewhat, improved indexing and more importantly fixed a bug which was picking up last 8 days instead of 7, and switched steel of the day stat analysis from query strings to actual record ids. In short, it's much more accurate that way and faster as well. I still need to work on other queries, to switch them from query text analysis to alloy name record analysis, but that's for a later time, along with improved analytics.

Kershaw Knives facebook page features my apps on Jul. 10th :) Sure, it feels good to get my appz endorsed by major knife maker, especially when it's one of my favorites. Kershaw, Shun and Zero Tolerance are all owned by Kai cutlery. Kershaw knives reviews here and Shun Knives reviews here. As much as I dislike facebook, it still is good :) Give them a like if you stop by there.
