Lots of UI improvements, or so I think. Fixed a crash which was caused by incorrect db data, reported by few users last week. Other improvements and optimizations. Selecting identical listing no longer results in database refresh, current values are always highlighted in the listing windows and so on. New feature inspired by cutlerylovers review, added alloying elements effects to the app detail and graph views and included the same info in the help file, although from what I gather based on last 3 years of published app experience, nobody reads help, even on the complex app like this...

As commenters said, knife steel apps got one more review, this time by known youtube reviewer Cutlerylover. I'm glad it was very positive :) And in the wake of new wave of the comments got one more 1star, someone pissed off because he thinks I am anti-second amendment, seriously WTF?!!! I developed and maintain desert eagle pistol FAQ for crying out lout, aside from all other things on my websites.

Version 4.17 is online. Fixed a bug when standard value from settings dialog was resulting in incorrect search results from advanced search dialog. In short, it wasn't supposed to be involved in search constraints, but it was, and now it's all good. Search away ;)

What do you know... Apple reviewed the app in 3 days. Well, app is out, with several important fixes including synchronization, missing compositions, etc.

Submitted the app today. I suppose their holiness apple app review council will approve it in a week or two.

Doug up yet another interesting source. Has bunch of names from British makers for various popular tool steels, including AISI O1, AISI D2, AISI D3, and AISI D6, well that's so far. Plus fw more standard and proprietary names for other alloys, overall about 80 new alloys in last seven days :)

I got it a while back, as a present for my friend. Had it for a few weeks to play with and do some testing. Pretty good knife, I was happy with all aspects of its performance, nice knife, but sharpening is a biatch. Other than that, no complaints. Good build quality, solid performance and the price is pretty reasonable too.

Found couple new sources and another steel company, French one at this time - Secosar. Went through the few German makers listings, found alloys I've missed before, and new additions. Overall, I've added over 100 new alloys to the database during last 2 weeks. Total number of the records in the database is now over 5200.

Added warning dialog to the graph when there is not enough space to display all alloys in the comparison. Apparently nobody ever looked into the settings menu which allows to increase the graph size ;) Now, there'a clear message. Also, fixed gradient bars, they are correctly filled with corresponding gradient texture, before they were shifted occasionally.

Dug through Euro makers sites and found out that a few alloys were still missing from the knife steel composition chart. Most interesting would be Japanese SRK-8 tool steel, which is a close relative of the Hitachi Shirogami 2 steel, although described as having the performance of the Aogami 2, which I really doubt. Still, a good steel. Another one was Bohler-Uddeholm Marss-500 steel. That one is not a new one either, its clone from Sandvik - 12C27M steel was in the chart for a while. Gave me some trouble, because there's numerous sources listing it as having 18% Chromium, which isn't correct, it has 14.50%. It took time to discover Swedish source stating that. Obviously it's no longer listed on any Bohler-Uddeholm site.
